Hey there! :)

Today I will tell you about my little trip to Estonia last weekend. I didn't plan to go to Estonia this year, but me and Katja wanted to meet somewhere finally, and as I have the job and not so much time, we decided to meet in Tallinn, not Helsinki. So me and my boyfriend went to Estonia last Saturday night to see Katja and Henri :)

First interesting thing about this trip was that we didn't go to Estonia by bus this time, but by Scania truck :D While we were waiting for the car (it was about 2 a.m.) we were standing in the forest singing Latvian songs, but soon the driver collected us and at about 7 a.m. we were in Tallinn already. As Katja and Henri came a bit later, we had some time to walk around the city and collect some caches :)

This time I won't write much text, just put many photos in a long, long post, as I'm lazy and not feeling well :/

I'm here with a new post again :) The weather is very windy recently, so yesterday I decided to go to Mangaļsala after work to catch some waves. And I want to show you what I've got :)

Sunny winter ^^

Hi everyone! ^^

Today I feel a bit lazy to write another travel-post, so I'll show you some photos of our awesome winter ^^ It's a week already since our weather is really nice and sunny (it's quite a weird thing here in winter). And everything looks like it's covered with diamonds - such a perfect view!

I'm just sorry I can't enjoy this awesome weather, as it's Latvian University conference soon, and until tomorrow I have to hand in an abstract of my work in English. I'm even not sure, are my results ok (they're from my bachelor's work, which has to be handed in just in April, so I haven't much time to analyze them) and, of course, I haven't written anything :D But well, the night is long :D

(I just wanted to tease you with these spring photos, not just write a long text without any ^^ They're from May 2008).

Also on Monday I finally went to check my eyes and got contact lenses. So I spend this week trying how to insert them and get them out. I really have no idea, how people can use them, as I feel that my hands are probably not growing from the right place, but from the... you know :D But my this years determination is to change my appearance a bit by doing some things I should have done already at the age of 14-15. Some hard times coming then, but I hope that after few years I'll be happier than ever ^^

P.S. And I've found on the Internet where I can buy Finnish Forsman tea in Riga. Must check!

2012 in short ^^

Hi everyone! :)

Today I finally decided to sum up all this year's events - thanks to Ksu for the idea :) Last time I did it in 2009, when I didn't have this blog, just a personal one, and then half of the events was related to F1. Today I'll try not to write much about it :D So...

January.

This year I finally started outside Latvia - in Tallinn, and first day of the year I also spent in Estonia, this time - in Rakvere :) Of course, then I had the craziest session in my life at university with many hard exams (like biochemistry), but, as I'm an optimist, I passed everything. And I was crazy enough to buy a ticket to Nightwish concert in Helsinki! Finally visited a zoo, was at Evita's birthday party and met many new friends, and our Team Drosera got to the finals of world's Biomimicry Design Challenge.

February.

This was a month of traditions - I went to Jelgava to see ice sculptures, as I do it every year, and me & my girls also went to many parties, as we usually do it in winter. For the first time I was at some Latvian TV show to support my friend Linda (before I just sat in the audience, doing nothing). And event of the month (maybe even of the year) - our biomimicry team got 2nd place in 2011 Biomimicry Design Challenge! I never thought something like this could ever be a reality!

March.

It wouldn't be an interesting month at all, but everything was decided in January - and in March I went to Helsinki to make one of my dreams (seeing Nightwish live) come true. In Finland I met two awesome girls I knew before just through our blogs - Katja and Ksu, and also Katja's husband :) One more event - F1 season started finally, and Kimi Raikkonen joined Lotus F1 team, so I became much crazier about F1 than in previous years ^^ And I bought myself an mp3 player I wanted for a long time.

April.

The month was crazy, as I was dealing with my course work, but also full of events. We celebrated Easter and I had some holidays finally, tried Ksu's strange recipe of dumpling soup, started my velo-season and followed one more tradition - went to take photos of windflowers (and for the first time I climbed up such a high and unstable tower) ^^ And on last day of April me and Dad saw Jackie Chan in Jelgava - one more thing I never thought would come true sometimes :D

May.

As always, this month is full of learning and nothing else, but I finally wrote and answered my course work (which is a big event) and did many other things for university that seemed unreal. And it was a month of hockey - of course, I hoped that Finland will win again, but they were just 4th... And I was at the zoo one more time, as we had a lecture there and also at botanical garden :)

June.

First two weeks I spent sleeping, and then started my planned trips around Latvia by my bike - this time I drove from Valmiera to Cēsis. The nature and cities are beautiful, but roads are for better sportsmen than me :D I also was in Roja finally (last time I was there in 2009), went to my friends graduation (they got bachelor's degree) and celebrated Jāņi with girls from my school, as always :)

July.

It was the month that I didn't spend at home at all - maybe just 2 or 3 nights :D First we had a field practice in Taurene with my biologists for two weeks - even though we had to learn there, we spent a wonderful time, drinking milk, eating strawberries, petting bats and running around with GPS or watching birds. And I discovered many new places, as I went there by my bike ^^ Then I celebrated Sea & Fishermen festival in Roja with my friends and family and went to Helsinki to meet Katja once again and see Finnish nature and other places I haven't been to ^^

August.

It also started not at home, as I went to one more field practice with my biologists - this time at Kolka ^^ I spent there 1,5 weeks, we saw many other places, not just Kolka, and some of us helped to organize Insects Night once again. My friend Žanete turned 21, so me and my friends from school went to Sigulda to celebrate it, some days after had a bike trip to Garciems and went to Brainstorm concert. And I did one more thing I wanted - went to Bolderāja by my bike, setting a personal record - 63,27 km in one day :) I was at Roja once again, collected some data for my bachelor's work with my teacher, went mushrooming and was at the zoo for the third time to see Gentoo penguins ^^

September.

New study year I started at Kolka, as every year there is an event Night on the Cape for 1st course, and we organized everything and had some fun, of course :) I was at the zoo once again at the Giraffe Day :D Lectures started at university, so there were many things related to them - going to zoo once again (:D), going to botanical garden, going to the forest to pick mushrooms... Went to Daugavgrīva Fortress once again by my bike, took part in a Latvian TV show `Precamies`, worked at mushroom exhibition at Museum of Nature and met Latvian racing driver Haralds Šlēgelmilhs ^^

October.

Finally I started attending Finnish language courses I wanted for such a long time ^^ Of course, continued driving around by my bike, taking photos of awesome fog, sailing ship `Mir` and birds, lake Baltezers (one more thing from my `must go there by my bike` list) and many other things. Was at many great parties like Biologist Night, and celebrated my 21st birthday with so many people and great events I couldn't even dream of :) And took part in this years Biomimicry Design Challenge. And got first snow ^^

November.

It also wasn't an interesting month, so I tried to remember, how to draw and started writing about my previous trips here :) Followed a tradition of visiting Candle Night at the graveyard and had some great parties again. The show I took part at was finally shown on TV, Kimi Raikkonen won his first F1 race after his comeback, I finished my Finnish language courses and got 1st level and also F1 season finished finally, with Sebastian Vettel becoming a world champion once again :)

December.

Last month of the year started with taking part in a movie about economics of Latvia, that was filmed in my faculty. I got a Christmas card from Ksu and it started snowing finally here, almost all month was full with snow ^^ And I was at two Christmas balls - first with my friends from school, then with friends from university, finally had a chance to dance ^^ I also bought myself a Christmas present - long awaited Nokia N9. At Christmas I visited my grandma, then took photos of Christmas trees and yesterday went ice skating with my friends (post about it coming soon). And that's all, I guess ^^

And some more things to sum up.

• Wish of the year: To become crazier and not to be afraid of meeting unknown people - done :)
• Band of the year: Ensiferum - didn't listen to them before and it was my mistake.
• Album of the year: Nightwish - Imaginaerum - I don't care that it was released last year, every song from it reminds me of something awesome this year ^^
• Song of the year: Nightwish - Escapist.
• Place of the year: Riga zoo, I guess, I was there 5 times :D
• City of the year: Helsinki ^^
• Book of the year: Jules Vernes `The Mysterious Island`. It couldn't be any other book.
• Person of the year: Kimi Raikkonen ^^ This year he proved once again that he's awesome :)
• Colour of the year: black.
• Extreme of the year: climbing up the tower for monitoring forest fires.
• Food of the year: our special field practice soup (from everything you can find) :D
• Movie of the year: I will name `Hobbit`, even though I haven't seen it yet.
• Feeling of the year: happiness when wishes come true ^^
• Language of the year: Finnish ^^
• Best month of the year: July and August, I couldn't choose one.
• Tradition of the year: girls evenings at folk club `Ala`.
• Gift of the year: mobile phone ^^
• Goal of the year: to drive more than 1000 km on my bike. I did 1117 km this year ^^

I guess, my year was quite good :) So, what was yours? ^^

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas for everyone, who is celebrating them on 25th & 26th of December! :)

As always,it's some kind of thinking time for me. I always disappear from Twitter and other web pages and start to think about life. And this time, as I was cleaning one of the rooms and found many books from my (and also from my dad's) childhood, I'm reading them. And you know what? Reality doesn't exist for me then, I just want to return back to a time when I was 4 or 5 years old. Then there were no problems, no violence aroud, no thoughts about future which scare me too often, nothing, just friends and happiness. Two things that I miss too much sometimes.

Now I just like a thought, that finally I won't be celebrating New Year in Latvia, maybe it's a chance to change everything and 2012 won't be as all the other years.

And I also hope that normal winter will come soon. Today it was +9°C. What a December.

Make your wishes come true

Hi! :)

As my study year finally is over (just exams in January), I'll have a bit more time and try to write more often. But today just a quick post (as it's 2 a.m. already :D)

Today I decided to write here my wishlist. You can see it as a page in my blog. In 2009 my dad challenged me (I don't know how to say it differently) to write 100 wishes. I accepted challenge and wrote them (in two years, I think :D). None of them are personal (like that I want a good boyfriend or stuff like that) and none of them are like `I want a husband millionaire`. Just random wishes I wanted to come true then.

Some of them sounded impossible for me, for example, that I want to have a photo with Kimi Raikkonen or go to The Rasmus concert, as I considered myself just as a simple Latvian girl who can't do anything if it's related to celebrities, people I adore or another countries I want to visit but don't have a chance.

What about now? I understood that everything is possible. Really, everything. When I after some time read it again and marked things I've done, I was so surprised that I made it. You just have to believe it. And keep this wishlist in a place where you see it often.

So, a challenge for you, my dear readers - who wants to write a hundred things to do in this life and try to make them real? ^^ Try, it really works :)

Friday night I also was out with my friends :) It was so fun, we were dancing in a park [as always] & singing weird songs [everything is captured on my camera, but these videos are not for posting in the internet, lol :D ] till 6 a.m., people definitely thought that we were completely drunk, but we were not :D Just two photos this time, as all others are without me :)

Was a good day, we found a snail that is a species of 0 category in Red Data Book of Latvia & also protected in all Europe, and a butterfly that is also protected in Europe [I just don't know their English names]. And I also found black viper, when I saw just its tail I thought that it was a grass snake, and it was good that I wasn't trying to catch it before I saw that it hasn't yellow spots on its head :D And also there were so many mosquitoes, I have 17 bites just on one hand, so its red and swollen, lol :D
Yeah, and also I found out, that on July 24th Raikkonen & Loeb will be in Helsinki, showing everything they can with their cars ^.^ Ahh, I want there so much, but the only chance is to answer my field practice work at Kolka on 23.07 at the morning, and then driving like crazy [if there will be a bus] to Riga, to congratulate my friend on her 20th birthday, and then driving like crazy to bus station to get to Tallinn, then by ferry to Helsinki and hopefully at 10 a.m. I will be there... Any chance?

Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.

A week has passed already after my holidays started, and I still haven't done anything I wanted. Again and again I understand, that for me making plans is the first thing to fail. I only can do something and go somewhere if I decide it in the last moment, cause then everything goes much better than if I tell someone about this or plan it. So it seems like I'm not going anywhere in these holidays, although I had so many chances... My friend is celebrating her 18th birthday on January 28th; Dad adviced me to go to Finland till February [ok, he was angry then and simply didn't want me to bother him, but I really liked this idea, even though it seemed that I should go to Estonia and then to Helsinki alone and live there alone, too *but sometimes I like to be alone, cause I can't feel freedom if I'm with someone, and freedom is a thing that I rate really high in my life*]... Then, instead of Finland I decided that I maybe could go to Tallinn for a day; and so much everything else. But now it seems that I'm not going anywhere, cause I'm half ill after this weekend. Ok, let's stop talking about bad things! xD

Ok, it's enough photos I think... Just read somewhere on the internet that in 2013 maybe one of WRC stages will be held in Latvia. Don't know, maybe it's again a stupid rumor, but if it would be real... Ahh, I would be so happy if I could attend rally where Raikkonen is driving now! My biggest dream is to get his autograph & have a photo with him, cause when I went to Hungary for a F1 race, we couldn't get there on Thursday for a paddock walk, and also I didn't know in which hotel will he stay, and even if I did, I couldn't get there, cause we had no car... So now rally is the only alternative, but I can't afford to go to other country, cause you simply should have a car if you're attending rally to follow drivers through different stages, but I haven't. But if rally would be here, I'd somehow get to know everything and get to podium, autograph-sessions hopefully and at least to one stage...
And also I decided [plans again, so not much chances for me to make them true] that I simply HAVE TO go to a F1 race again! I want to paddock walk, run a lap around Hungaroring, get some pics in places where I wasn't in 2009, and do much more, cause now I know where everything is located and how to get everywhere, a place where drivers are going to their hotels, so if you wait there you can see them, and much more. After Raikkonen left F1 I told to myself that I won't attend any race if he wouldn't be there, but now Seb Vettel is a new hero for me in F1 *he was since his first race, but then there was Raikko, so I didn't care about anyone else*, and since he won Championship, I want to see him again. Yeah, and also I want Sony A580 camera.
God, I wrote so much today.
