Christmas & NY memories :)

Hey there! :)
Finally I'm back. Had some crazy time after a New Year, but now it seems ok to write something here again :) On Tuesday I passed my exam in biogeography (hopefully passed, as it was crazy a bit) and already sent some parts of my bachelor's work to my teacher. We had to write a plan some time ago, and it seems that I was too positive then, so I wrote that I'll hand something in already in January :D But well, I'm always doing everything at the last moment, so later in spring I'll be glad that I've already done something.
But now it's time for some photos from my Christmas & NY celebrations :)
On 20th of December our biologists together with Faculty of Computing (from RTU) had a Christmas Ball ^^ Danced all night long and had lots of fun, although I don't like to search for all my drunk friends at the morning and be sure they get home safely :D But it was the last night before the end of the world on 21st December - people had to live this night as the last :D
Some photos:

My biologists are awesome! ^^
On Christmas (as always) I went to my grandma to give her some Christmas presents :)
Me & Mum near the Christmas tree.
And before New Year we went ice skating with my friends from school. I sat aside this time, as I don't like skating much, but the evening was great :) Talked a lot about different things, drank hot wine, was fun :)
Gerda, me & Evija.
All four of us - me, Evija, Žanete & Gerda. And it was raining - how cool is that?
New Year we also spent together - after midnight we went to the city, checked out what's going on at 11. Novembra krastmala (there were many concerts that day) and then went to Greenwood club, where we had fun until the morning :) I danced with a long-haired guy who listens to folk metal (^^) and also hates songs that are always played in clubs, so it was fun to laugh at every song, because it was so stupid :D Was a bit crazy night :)
Me & Žanete at the Bastion Hill. And some beautiful view :)
Hopefully soon I'll start writing about my previous trips again :) This time I could write about Lithuania and then continue with my trip to different European countries in 2008.
And next week I'll finally start to make my this years wish (or determination) come true. I know, it will take lots of pain, tears, money and so on, but I've finally decided that it's enough living like that, I must finally stop being afraid of such a stupid thing and make my future better. It will be ok :)
Have fun and take care, my dear readers! ^^

100th post

Hi! This one is my 100th post (if I count unpublished ones), and it will be sad, as I can't stay silent again, everyone's talking about it.
We have a nature park in Līgatne, and last Sunday a bear called Made escaped from her territory. She did it last August, too, but then she was found and returned back. But this time it was decided that it's too dangerous, and the bear was shot.
Only a human can do such a thing. To feed an animal for seventeen years, and then decide that it's too dangerous. Although it's so easy just to check a fence - and Made couldn't have an opportunity to escape.
At least she's now in a better world than this one. Without betrayal. Without evil.

Hello! :)
It's almost 1 a.m., and I'm not sleeping again. Instead of it, I'm listening to different bands from my `must listen sometimes more songs` list. There are 19 bands, 11 of them are from Finland, 5 from Sweden, 12 are melodic death metal bands, rest of them - folk/viking/pagan/black metal. What this winter has done to me? :D *at least I'm now listening to Made Of Hate, and they're not Finns, they're from Poland*
Today I promised again to my teacher, that I will come to him to talk about my course work. Now I have feeling that I won't write anything until 15th May, when everything has to be finished and handed in. Someone has to sit next to me and tell me after every five minutes `write!!!` :D
Ahh, and tomorrow (or today already) there will be referendum about making Russian language second official. I don't like to talk about it, as it's politics, but I'm fed up with all these commercials, leeflets, tweets and videos about it. There will never be so many people to vote for it, so everyone could just chill out, not making a tragedy out of this. But everyone keeps talking about Latvian culture, traditions and so on - one of the things that I can't understand in this world is why people have to make big problems of nothing, rather than solve the small ones, which lead to these big. I'll better shut up.
Something positive - photos from Wednesday party with my best friend Linda & my university girls. Now no parties for me until May & finished course work! :D
Me & Linda ar Četri Balti Krekli
Guys from Germany :D Was `great` to talk with them with my `knowledge` of German language :D
And this one looks like Edward from Twilight (maybe not so much at photo, but in reality it was so funny :D )
Stay positive ^^ And I think I must finally go to sleep now.

Hi! :)
Sorry for disappearing for a while from here. And I think that I won't have a chance to write here soon, maybe until my winter holidays, starting at 24/12.
Next week will be so crazy - I have an exam at plant anatomy, two tests at German & typology of soil and vegetation, must translate and make a presentation about scientific paper at ecology (about aspen related beetles & bugs in Finland), write ten pages about mutations in genetics. And everything must be written and handed in next week.
And also there's this biomimicry project [we finally started thinking about everything for it, so have to analyze many materials & data] and work at botanical garden, so we'll have to spend 3 hours there next monday to learn something more about plants growing there. And my course work with counting and sorting such a big amount of beetles [must finish until New Year, as nothing is written yet, and this spring everything has to be ready].
And also today one of Latvian banks was closed, so there's no chance to get money these days or pay at shops with cards. And, of course, this is my bank - I wanted to buy many things, and now just have to wait, without knowing anything how and when I'll get my money back, and also I will have to make a new bank account for a money from university [and you can imagine how many people are everywhere, doing it, as this bank was popular].
So I don't know how I'll make it, as I'm totally down right now.
But everything will be ok, right?
Yeah, and also I've applied for a job at Lithuania for this summer [project for three years about habitats].
Have fun and take care.
*photo's not mine*
Your Icegirl.

If it will go on like that, my blog will turn into some kind of memorial book. Not a long time ago (8th of September) I wrote here about Lokomotiv. Last time (17th of October) I just didn't want to make this day bad and didn't write anything about Dan Wheldon. But today I can't stay silent.
Marco Simoncelli. 24 years old. MotoGP racing driver. He left us yesterday, during the race at Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia, at 16:56 local time.
I mentioned Dan Wheldon before. He was killed at 16th of October in a racing accident in IndyCar ar Las Vegas Motor Speedway, where 15 cars were involved. He was 33 years old. I came home at Monday and found out about this crash. And I couldn't stop crying, even though I never saw Dan racing and didn't hear about him very often.
But Marco I knew very good. I was watching MotoGP since summer 2008. And that year Marco became World Champion in 250cc class. I remember this day like it was yesterday - everyone was so happy, especially Marco. He was the person I liked since the first time I saw him. Russian commentators called him Dandelion. And since that day me too. In 2010 he came to 500cc (MotoGP) class, and of course couldn't drive as fast as in 250cc, but I believed in him. In 2011 I stopped watching MotoGP, because many races overlapped with F1 and I couldn't follow so many of them. And also I saw crash of Shoya Tomizawa during the race at 5th of September, 2010, and it was also fatal. Shoya was 19 years old. And I didn't want to watch it anymore.
Yesterday I was sticking leaves of trees for my herbarium, and my dad started to read a piece of news. That MotoGP race at Malaysia was stopped after an accident involving Simoncelli, Edwards and Rossi. Nothing happened to Rossi, Edwards was injured with a dislocated shoulder, but Simoncelli... `No..` - I thought, because I already understood what happened and didn't want to hear it. `..but Simoncelli died because of his injuries`. `Marco's dead? No, no way, that just can't be true!` - I whispered. `I will never believe it!` But I should believe. It seems so unreal.
And yesterday I also found out that at 9th of October Russian ski jumper Pavel Karelin died in a car accident. He was 21. I actually never realized that he was so young. Because I'm often watching ski jumping in winter, and Russian commentators mention him so often as a really good and perspective jumper. And he's been participating in world cups since 2007. By the way, four days before this accident I saw ski jumping in my dream, although I never dreamed about it before, and it seemed a bit strange. Seems that it really was.
Three Sundays of October. I really don't want to think about this one.
Sorry about this messy and emotional post. In few days I'll try to write something more positive, about my B-day, Bio-night and so on.
And finally one of my verses, related to this situation. It's in Latvian, but I translated it in English. As it's long, just press Uzzināt vairāk » to read it.

Happy Birthday, Kimi!

Today is so beautiful weather outside, and I'm walking around smiling like crazy, just don't know why :D
Or maybe I do - today is 32nd birthday of Kimi Raikkonen :) So, in this case, I'll write here one of my verses in English. I wrote it in 2009, when Kimi became 30 years old ^^

It's rainy, but I love this day –
October seventeenth for me
Is celebration anyway –
And it will always, always be.

Today's your birthday, Kimi, so
For me it's celebration too
And I don't care that I don't know
What’ll happen in F-1 to you.

You make me smile, I learnt from you
To be myself and let past go,
I didn't know, but now I do –
Today's a gift for us, and so

Congratulations, Kimi, and
Try to remain as good you are
You are my Champ, just understand
You'll always, always be my star!

This photo was on a desktop of my computer, when I was with biologists at Kolka, and at least five persons asked me, is it my boyfriend :D

And this is my favourite video about Kimi :)

This week will be crazy I think, as I have tests everywhere, but somehow I'll do it, I know :) Yeah, and tomorrow I'll be 20 years old. Don't want for this day to come :/

I'm just totally in love with freedom.

If you asked me what's my favourite book, I would think a bit, because I like many books, for example, Jules Vernes `Mysterious Island`, James Hadley Chase `Figure It Our For Yourself`, Stephen King `Pet Sematary` or Mikhail Bulgakov `The Master and Margarita`. But I would had an answer. It's definitely Jack London `The Call Of The Wild`. I remember like yesterday, that I was approximately 3 years old, sat on the floor in a living room, and my grandma read me this book. This book was really old and was written in an old Russian (I remember that male nouns were with the letter `ъ` at their endings, but also other words were a bit weird), so I couldn't understand everything even when I learned to read, but I asked my grandma to read me this book very often. Then I just liked that it was about a dog. Later I read it in English (also many other books of Jack London, he's an amazing writer), and now I love it, because, in my opinion, it's about freedom. About freedom and love.
There are three kinds of people, if talking about love, in my opinion. First ones live their lives without any idea what the love is. Those, who hadn't sunny childhood, and therefore they don't feel like part of this world and people around. The others know what love is, and they can live all life with their beloved person. And there are people (and I'm definitely one of them) who understood true meaning of the love, but can't accept the fact that they will be together with one person for the rest of their life. And they can't accept that they will never be free again, this freedom means much more to them than love, it calls them, away from everything common at least for a while. It makes them understand, how wonderful it is to live without any rules, like they want, not somebody else. Of course, leave everything and follow this call can only few of them. But when these invisible links tear, the border between an individual and freedom falls, and it's possible to get free forever. Like main hero Buck did it.
But if you asked me what's my favourite movie, I could think for an hours and still don't have an answer. Until yesterday. But now I have a movie which I like very much, and it's called `Into The Wild`. A movie about a guy who, after graduating from university, leaves everything and goes to Alaska to live in the wilderness. I don't know any movie which is so close to my inner being. I don't have so much courage to leave everything and enjoy freedom like main hero of this movie did (and it's based on real story), but it's the thing that I want the most somewhere deep in my heart. Of course, movie doesn't end well, showing what can happen if you don't think about future and just follow your crazy dreams. But maybe it's better to die on your feet than live on your knees.
If you've seen this movie or read this book, please let me know what you think about it :) Or tell me about your favourite books / movies :)
P.S. I'm always in that `thinking about life mood` at nights, and now it's 1 a.m., so this post is a bit depressive :)

All that I need is this moment / To send me away with a smile on my face / I tried to leave but I turn back / On my heart remains a trace...

Hi everyone! :)
I'm now addicted to a song Nic Chagall feat. Jonathan Mendelsohn - This Moment. I know, it's a bit old, but I don't care. Just found a video which I downloaded from Kimi Raikkonen Space in 2009, and all these memories came back... It's hard to understand me, I know. Raikkonen was in formula-1 for 9 years, so many my memories are connected with it, and in this video is his last race - Abu Dhabi 2009. After it he left F1. And this video always makes me remember everything. Anyway, sorry for horrible beginning of the post, but you can listen to this song while reading all this :)

First of all, I wish you all happy Easter! It's a bit late, I know, but I was very busy all this weekend :)
These are our coloured eggs ^.^
Yesterday, as it was Easter, I went to my grandma, and I also had to show her some photos. While my mom went there by bus, I took my bike [btw, it's much faster!]. This road where I always drive there, is a bit strange - there is cannabis field, mad wild dogs, a house in which yard a big white cross is standing and I once saw a group of people in long white dresses dancing around it, old cemetery and an empty road where always strange men are walking [once one of them had a big and heavy bag, maybe there was a body? xD]. At least, it's good to do some sports, cause it's 25 km to Jugla and back :) And yesterday I also drove to Mežciems and a hospital [my grandma's brother is now there], and also I was at Biķernieki race track :) Yesterday there also was some race, so part of this track was closed, but I drove a bit there :)
I also took a video while driving around the track *I won't post it here*, but it looks that I'm driving sooo slow there :D My dad already told me that it just looks like that, cause I'm totally accustomed to watching F1 races, when cars are going at more than 300 km/h, but still I think I have to drive a bit more this year than in previous ones - since I have no sport lessons ar university, I'm feeling like an old granny, unable to do anything. But my target is to drive 100 kilometres without stopping this year :)
And also there was a great sunset on the way home ^.^
It's just sad that today is the last day of my one week Easter holidays and tomorrow I have to go to university again, but hope May will pass fast ^.^ Of course, then in June we will have session with lots of hard exams like anatomy & Earth science and in July I will have to spend a month in Kolka, but it's ok.
Have a good day :)*

trešdiena, 2011. gada 16. februāris

Just living is not enough. One must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower.

Now I feel really messed up. I want to sleep very much, cause I can't wake up at 7 a.m. every morning and feel normally, and also I started to think about different things [that I should forgot!] again. It's ok when I'm at university, cause there are lots of friends, and also teachers always say something funny, because biologists are not like everybody else, but when I'm at home alone... I know I maybe shouldn't write this here, but probably it'll help me. Yesterday I had biology laboratory works with algae, and almost all 6 hours when I was drawing something and looking at different algae in microscope, I only thought about last years May. Every word said by others made me remember all this stuff. Evening in a park, lots of mosquitoes, and just me & him. Yeah, I didn't like this evening then, friends laughed at me when I ran to them not even saying goodbye to him *it was so funny, I guess, that I even smiled now*, because he really wasn't the person I liked, but now when I remember... I became f*cking ironic after this, and yesterday I realised that I'm evil and I simply can break up with everyone only because of my love to freedom and my hate to everyone who tries to steal this freedom of me, even if only wishing me all the best... Life is f*cking stupid, people, and I don't want all this to change. And this Monday was the stupidest day this year [St.Valentine's day, f*ck yeah, `great` celebration, I hate it for 7 years now].
Ok, I'll shut up a bit and stop talking about these things, but sorry if my further post will be pessimistic and without any smilies.
On Saturday I went to exhibition center in Kipsala, cause there was international tourism exhibition - people from different countries [and also cities of Latvia] came there to represent them. And there I met my guide with who I went to Russia in 2008 :) He also offered to go with him to Russia again this year, hope I'll a have a chance to go to. And also there was a woman with siberian huskies, and everyone could try riding sledges with them. It was just for a few meters, but it's my dream to ride on dog-sledge, so I also tried it :)
Also after [and before] this, I took some pics of Riga.
And on Sunday I went to Jelgava to see ice sculptures. Spent there almost 5 hours, and it was below -20°C, felt like a penguin *photos I'll put in a next post, cause there still aren't in my computer* And now it's also really cold, by the way, but it's sunny [all 3 days of this week I saw sunrise while driving to university] and I love weather like this, no matter the others say.
Yeah, and yesterday my mom & dad had their 21st *I guess* wedding anniversary. So dad bought a bottle of Martini Asti, which I love very much, and I also bought two cans with coctails of Koskenkorva vodka [it's vodka from Finland, if you don't know]. I had to learn Earth science and draw contour lines [isolines], but at the end I got drunk again and I really don't know what I draw there, must check today!
So - I'll get pics from my camera to computer, and new post coming soon.

ceturtdiena, 2011. gada 27. janvāris

...These are things none of us avoids. Suffering is the price of being alive...

Well, today I'll write a post without any photos. It's just true me - writing thoughts and complaining about life, asking everybody why it's so unfear to us.
First of all, why I started it. Today first piece of news that I read was about death of Mārtiņš Freimanis, famous latvian singer, actor and song-writer. He was only 33 years old. And he died of complications, caused by flu. I think it's not worth to describe now how many popular songs has he written, how successful was his group `Tumsa` in Latvia, how everyone loved him when he was acting in latvian serial `UgunsGrēks`, and I think many of you will remember how he with Lauris & Yana sang at Eurovision song contest in 2003 as `F.L.Y.` and a song `The War Is Not Over` sung by Valters & Kaža at Eurovision in 2005 which got 5th place and was his song, too... He was an amazing person, and even if you don't know him, it really IS sad when a person dies at only 33...
And about terrorism act at Domodedovo airport - it's again the same story. So many people with dreams & plans about future, people with families and probably in some of them - the only person about which somebody cared. Young people who had so much possibilities in their lives, older people with so many relatives loving them... So many killed... So many injured... And WHY? Because somebody, who hasn't a head, but... don't know... bag of shit on his shoulders, decided that it'd be really cool and maybe even funny! I really don't understand how a kid can grow up to such a monster, who just spits on everyone and cares about nothing? And nobody does nothing to him, cause what can you do when you meet such a person? And this situation gets worse every day, I simply can't imagine what life will be in a few years.
Condolences to everyone related to these situations.
Life is the most unfear thing around us, and it's no chance to escape.

trešdiena, 2010. gada 24. novembris

I need this beat like the earth needs the rain!

Hah, nothing changes, it's almost midnight, and I'm sitting here waiting for something. Just watched some football - FC Ajax VS Real Madrid. It was nice to see one of my favourite teams [MR] winning this game, although they got 2 red cards for wasting time :)
And yes - today I finally finished editing my movie. Together I spent on it more than 4 days, if you count all this time, when it was saving [or trying to save]. Well, what can I say - it could be better [more videos, better quality], but I still like it, cause I realised all my ideas :) I just edited it a little bit because of credits at the end, and now it's saving again, so I have to wait - don't want to leave computer on all night again.
On Sunday I went to the cemetery, cause in Latvia we celebrate so-called Candle Night, there are a lot of candles all around, so beautiful :)
But this evening I'm thinking a lot about different things. First of all, why I'm always telling the wrong way when some tourists ask me where something is located? Today a man asked me where is bus No22 stop, and I told him to go sooo far from the place where we were, cause I didn't know that there's a stop really near! Looks like I know nothing about Riga :D
Secondly, why did I chose a nickname Shantyy here? And why do I follow so many blogs in finnish? Ok, I love this country and I know a bit of finnish, but not so much to read texts in it - simply a few words! :D Maybe it's because last few days I'm listening only to finnish music, I found a great song called `Rakkaus on Lumivalkoinen` and I want to learn lyrics of `Ievan Polkka` too. Looks unreal, cause there are so many words in this song, but I'll try when I'll have some free time :))
And now I really want some Lapin Kulta, but I have only a bottle of it, although I brought a lot of beer from Finland this summer :D
Enjoy!
