Hey there! :)

Today I will tell you about my little trip to Estonia last weekend. I didn't plan to go to Estonia this year, but me and Katja wanted to meet somewhere finally, and as I have the job and not so much time, we decided to meet in Tallinn, not Helsinki. So me and my boyfriend went to Estonia last Saturday night to see Katja and Henri :)

First interesting thing about this trip was that we didn't go to Estonia by bus this time, but by Scania truck :D While we were waiting for the car (it was about 2 a.m.) we were standing in the forest singing Latvian songs, but soon the driver collected us and at about 7 a.m. we were in Tallinn already. As Katja and Henri came a bit later, we had some time to walk around the city and collect some caches :)

This time I won't write much text, just put many photos in a long, long post, as I'm lazy and not feeling well :/

Heey, my dear readers ^^ Last weekend I had a chance to visit a great event called The Tall Ships Races 2013 and see awesome sailing ships once again. Last time they were here in 2003 and I still remember how nice it was then. So this time I also couldn't miss it. First I went to city center to see the ships close to me and on Sunday I also went to Mangaļsala to see how they sail to the sea. So enjoy the photos! ^^

I'm here with a new post again :) The weather is very windy recently, so yesterday I decided to go to Mangaļsala after work to catch some waves. And I want to show you what I've got :)

A very long post.

Heeeey, my dear readers! The ones who still remember me and keep waiting for a new post after almost 3 months of silence from me :) I'm finally back and I'll try to write more often. For last 2 months I didn't have any free day at all, but now I decided that I must finally write something here, as many people even don't know anything about my life. In short - everything is awesome! ^^ So, get some tea (at least I am drinking tea right now, as it's quite cold outside) or something else and prepare for many-many photos and long stories :)

May started quite interesting, as me & my friends from Biomimicry Design Challenge team went to Sweden. I will show you photos and tell about the trip in the next post, now I will just say that everything was great. We walked around Stockholm, I met many new people on the ferry (we're now friends with one guy from Liepāja), had a crazy party, watched hockey with many fans and even touched an elephant! ^^

On 8th of May me & my Dad went to Jaunciems as we do it every year to take photos of windflowers (Anemone nemorosa). Of course, it was raining (I have my personal cloud, I guess, as nobody got the rain that day, just me), but we managed to take some photos I like :)

Budapest, Hungary, 2009

Hey! ^^

Finally I'm here with a post about Hungary, where I was in July 2009. As you know, I'm a big formula-1 fan, and every fan must attend at least one race. My choice was Budapest, as it's one of cheapest races and it's quite easy to get there. And also everyone who was there says the city itself is very beautiful. I spent in Budapest just 4 days (and 3 of them I spent at Hungaroring), and I haven't many photos and also didn't walk around the city very much. So my first advice for you - if you have a chance to visit Budapest, spend there at least a week to see everything :)

We started our trip at about 11 a.m., took a plane to Prague, and then to Budapest, so we arrived there just at the evening (by the way, almost all photos are taken at the evenings). But as it's quite easy to get to the city from Ferihegy airport, we managed also to walk around a bit.

Heeey! ^^

A week has passed since my last post, and today I'll take you to a little excursion around Karelia. If talking about nature, it was the best trip ever in my life. Such an awesome northern nature, many lakes, cliffs, waterfalls and forests... I can show these photos forever, I guess :) And the post will be really long (I just don't want to divide it into two or more posts).

We went to Karelia in August 2008 with a group of people by bus. It's the best way to explore this awesome part of Russia. First we went to Novgorod, and our first stop was Alexander-Svirsky monastery. We visited many churches during that trip, and in all of them girls had to wear dresses, and I looked great with a dress, as I didn't take my jeans & sweater off :D. We had an excursion around monastery, drank some holy water in a chapel and saw many photos on the wall.

Hi, my dear readers! :)

As it's November already and it's not a nice time of the year to go somewhere and take photos, I'll tell you about another countries I have visited in my life (and show photos, of course). I hope there will be enough posts for long winter evenings ^^ All of them I'll put under a label `journeys`.

And today I'll tell you about my 12 days trip to Crete, Greece. I was there with my family in August 2007 and although I don't like hot weather and trips to countries where everyone just swim and sunbathe, it was really awesome!

Riga Zoo: Video & Photopost ^^

Hey! ^^

Today I'll talk about Riga Zoo again, as I was there yesterday. I went there to see penguins :) We usually don't have penguins at our zoo, but this time 17 Gentoo penguins spent 3 weeks here on their way from Edinburgh Zoo to China (they will leave Latvia tomorrow morning). But I also took photos and some videos of other animals (as weather wasn't good for taking photos, as it was too dark). So enjoy ^^

Back from Roja

Hi! ^^

Finally I returned home from Roja, and tomorrow I must go to the forest with my teacher and my course-mate to collect some data for bachelor's work. It would be ok, if I wouldn't have to wake up at 7 a.m. :D

By the way, now it's Lady Gaga's concert in Mežaparks, about 1,5 km from my house. Fortunately, the wind is blowing from southwest, so I don't hear it (but my friend on the other side of lake Ķīšezers says it's too loud :D). It would be much better if some Finnish metal bands came to Latvia (who knows, maybe sometimes...) ^^

Heeey! ^^

Once again I must say - finally I'm writing a post here :D I can't even organize my time to write in my other, personal blog (and then I must try to remember, what happened a month or two ago to write about it). But tomorrow I'm going to Roja again, so I decided to write here and show you some photos *some music from Skyforger and Sonata Arctica and let's go* :)

Last week my friend Žanete turned 21, and we had to celebrate a bit. Me & Gerda bought a cake, cupcake, made her a movie with our crazy photos & videos and congratulate her at Bastion Hill with a song :)

And later we went to Sigulda to adventure park Mežakaķis (Forest Cat). As we have a special karma, of course, it was raining (like previous year), but fortunately we managed to have fun :)

This week we decided to meet once again, I made some chocolate muffins for us (thanks to Katja for tempting me! :D) and we went for a picnic to Garciems :)

And, of course, we went to that tower for monitoring forest fires I told you about some time ago, and I had to climb there once again.

I also took a video up there :) I'm talking in Latvian about what I see from there - Lake Ķīšezers, TV tower at Zaķusala, little village near Langa river, stairs where I have to climb down & my friends Evija & Žanete.

And on Friday I was at Brainstorm concert ^^ I can't say I like them, because I don't listen to this kind of music, but the concert was great. They have a song called Bronze (the only one I really like, because it's about racing), and after we got two medals at Olympics, they changed lyrics from `that's not a gold, not even bronze` to `we have a gold, and also bronze!`. And you know what - Māris Štrombergs, who got gold this year in London at BMX was there ^^ I didn't find a video, so maybe I'll show it to you later, if someone will upload it. Such a nice surprise :)

I went to a concert totally ill with temperature, runny nose and sore throat, but it didn't stop me from going to Spilve airport on Saturday, as we have Riga city festival now, and there was an air show. Later we went to Daugavgrīva fortress (it was closed unfortunately) and to Bolderāja. We drove more than 63 km that day :D That's called `I'm ill`, yeah.

This was one of the most beautiful views I've ever seen. Colors on photo aren't as they were then. Sky & sea was just blue and white (without grey). It looked like a drawing, or a view from a video game. And the feeling of freedom was incredible. I never sing outside my house when I'm alone. But this time I did. I think you can even guess the song :D

Some fun at Kolka ^^

I can't believe, that I'm at home finally, and I don't have to go anywhere (as it was since 1st of July) *little trips around Latvia & Brainstorm concert don't count now*. I returned from Kolka on 5th of August, and now I'll tell you about it & show photos, of course :)

I went to Kolka to a field practice called `ecology & systemathics of mosses and lichens`. I can't say I'm interested in it, I just love Kolka and field practice too much to stay at home. But it was fun, of course :)

Every day we had a lecture, then an excursion somewhere (we had to collect many mosses and lichens then) and laboratory works later. We saw many beautiful places & different plants there (but no animals).

In Kolka it doesn't rain often, but when it does, it's a real rain. We had a huge thunderstorm one day (29.07.) and had no electricity, my friends went to the shop and luckily one woman took them back with a car, as somebody even said they saw a tornado again. If you don't know yet, on 13th of July (my Name day) there was a tornado at Kolka, and it wouldn't be a surprise, if it really was there again.

One day we had an excursion, when it started raining heavily again, and, of course, we stole a raincoat from our teacher :D

And on 4th of August it was Insect Night at Slitere Lighthouse. Field practice ended already, but some of us stayed there to help to organize this night. We went there, cleaned the house, placed all objects there, caught some insects (and other invertebrates) to show people. Of course, we had to see a sunset from the lighthouse :) It was so beautiful.

Later, when our teachers and other biologists finished showing presentations, photos and talking about different insects, we went to tell people about them. Biologists are organizing this Insect Night just for three years, and I'm in for two years already :) And for me it's interesting to tell people about insects, so I hope I'll go there next year, too :)
