People don't notice whether it's winter or summer when they're happy ^^

Hi! :)
I'm finally here with a new post (actually I have to write my bachelor's work (again), but it can wait, I guess). Just watched UEFA CL game between Barcelona and Milan, and my favourite Barca lost 2:0. Games in this season really aren't as nice as I thought, as my favourite teams almost always lose. But well, let's wait for the finals in May :)
First of all, I finally got a ticket to the concert I told you about some time ago ^^
It turned out that some of my friends are going, too (biologists love metal ^^), and I can't wait to see Eluveitie (and also Sabaton)!
And I also wanted to tell you about one awesome bar I discovered last week in Riga. My crazy blonde friend Linda was asked to play her violine at Valentine's day in Karjala bar. Of course, she asked me to go with her. I usually don't celebrate Valentine's day (and not because I'm forever alone :D, I just have my own opinion about this `celebration`), but this time I just had to go, as this is a Finnish bar. And I really got this Finnish feeling ^^ At the table next to us sat the owner of the bar, who talked with a former rock musician (in Finnish ^^), some Finnish guys came in for a short time, and a show on TV even had Finnish subtitles ^^ (how many times did I mention a word `Finnish` in this post? :D). I must definitely go to that bar once again sometimes :)
And some thoughts again (I always start to think about life if I'm writing posts after midnight). Have you ever heard that every person that comes to your life changes it somehow? I didn't believe in it, but now I have totally changed my mind. When I had a birthday party, I met a person (I met him before, but didn't knew much), whose thoughts really changed my view on life. I started to think about things that I want to change in myself (not only the appearance). And I really have some crazy motivation to do almost anything - for example, I wasn't ready for contact lenses for years, and now I've done it. There are two another big things I started to think about (can't tell you yet), hopefully in two weeks I'll know about everything :)
And a song for you ^^ This one is my favourite this week.
Have fun and take care! ^^

Photopost: Ice sculptures, Jelgava 2013

Jelgavas ledus skulptūru festivāls 2013 / Фестиваль ледяных скульптур в Елгаве 2013
Hi! :)
It's a tradition already to write here about ice sculptures every year in February (you can see photos from 2011 and 2012 in my blog). On Saturday I was in Jelgava to see them again. This year the weather was bad, as it was quite warm and cloudy. And almost all sculptures had little white roofs above them, so I don't like my photos this year. But well, sculptures are beautiful and you must see them ^^
This years theme of a festival was Planet Ice.

Sunny winter ^^

Hi everyone! ^^
Today I feel a bit lazy to write another travel-post, so I'll show you some photos of our awesome winter ^^ It's a week already since our weather is really nice and sunny (it's quite a weird thing here in winter). And everything looks like it's covered with diamonds - such a perfect view!
A park near my faculty and a park near Bastion Hill - wooden Christmas tree and Monument of Freedom.
Latvian National Opera (I always want to call it ooppera, as I so much love this Finnish word ^^). I also call our Esplanāde park - Esplanadin puisto, so my friends often get confused, where I am, if I answer like this :D
View through my window, took this photo few minutes ago. Notice the seagulls ^^
I'm just sorry I can't enjoy this awesome weather, as it's Latvian University conference soon, and until tomorrow I have to hand in an abstract of my work in English. I'm even not sure, are my results ok (they're from my bachelor's work, which has to be handed in just in April, so I haven't much time to analyze them) and, of course, I haven't written anything :D But well, the night is long :D
(I just wanted to tease you with these spring photos, not just write a long text without any ^^ They're from May 2008).
Also on Monday I finally went to check my eyes and got contact lenses. So I spend this week trying how to insert them and get them out. I really have no idea, how people can use them, as I feel that my hands are probably not growing from the right place, but from the... you know :D But my this years determination is to change my appearance a bit by doing some things I should have done already at the age of 14-15. Some hard times coming then, but I hope that after few years I'll be happier than ever ^^
P.S. And I've found on the Internet where I can buy Finnish Forsman tea in Riga. Must check!
Have fun, my dear readers, and make your wishes come true! ^^

Christmas & NY memories :)

Hey there! :)
Finally I'm back. Had some crazy time after a New Year, but now it seems ok to write something here again :) On Tuesday I passed my exam in biogeography (hopefully passed, as it was crazy a bit) and already sent some parts of my bachelor's work to my teacher. We had to write a plan some time ago, and it seems that I was too positive then, so I wrote that I'll hand something in already in January :D But well, I'm always doing everything at the last moment, so later in spring I'll be glad that I've already done something.
But now it's time for some photos from my Christmas & NY celebrations :)
On 20th of December our biologists together with Faculty of Computing (from RTU) had a Christmas Ball ^^ Danced all night long and had lots of fun, although I don't like to search for all my drunk friends at the morning and be sure they get home safely :D But it was the last night before the end of the world on 21st December - people had to live this night as the last :D
Some photos:

My biologists are awesome! ^^
On Christmas (as always) I went to my grandma to give her some Christmas presents :)
Me & Mum near the Christmas tree.
And before New Year we went ice skating with my friends from school. I sat aside this time, as I don't like skating much, but the evening was great :) Talked a lot about different things, drank hot wine, was fun :)
Gerda, me & Evija.
All four of us - me, Evija, Žanete & Gerda. And it was raining - how cool is that?
New Year we also spent together - after midnight we went to the city, checked out what's going on at 11. Novembra krastmala (there were many concerts that day) and then went to Greenwood club, where we had fun until the morning :) I danced with a long-haired guy who listens to folk metal (^^) and also hates songs that are always played in clubs, so it was fun to laugh at every song, because it was so stupid :D Was a bit crazy night :)
Me & Žanete at the Bastion Hill. And some beautiful view :)
Hopefully soon I'll start writing about my previous trips again :) This time I could write about Lithuania and then continue with my trip to different European countries in 2008.
And next week I'll finally start to make my this years wish (or determination) come true. I know, it will take lots of pain, tears, money and so on, but I've finally decided that it's enough living like that, I must finally stop being afraid of such a stupid thing and make my future better. It will be ok :)
Have fun and take care, my dear readers! ^^

Photopost: Christmas in Riga (35 photos)

As its Christmas Eve today, I finally went to the city centre to search for some Christmas trees :) There are many of them, as Art Academy of Latvia organize an event called `Way of Christmas trees` or `Ziemassvētku egļu ceļš` in Latvian. There are many different objects, but I didn't take photos of all of them, as it was very cold and we have a snowstorm today. Look what I've got for you :)
The Flying Tree (author: Studio des Fetes Latvija) / Christmas tree at Esplanade park
And also at Esplanade park is the Kingdom of Rabbits! ^^ There are 46 cute rabbits there, many houses for them and you also can feed rabbits with carrots and special cookies :)

Snow in Riga ^^

Heey! ^^
Finally I found some time and took some new photos to write a post here :) I never thought this study semester would be so hard that I won't have some time to post something here. But it seems that last few weeks always are crazy - I have two exams next week, have to write an essay about birds, do a homework about cluster analysis and analyze a scientific paper once again. And I'm totally ill now, we have to hand in our biomimicry project until 16th of December, tomorrow is a big Christmas ball to which I must go with my friends, and on Sunday Linda will celebrate her birthday, so I can't stay home. But you know, I love to complain about lack of time - it becomes a bit easier for me if I write everything here :)
First of all - once again, thank you, Ksu, for a cute Christmas card that arrived last week! Your wish (you know which one ^^) made my day! I hope it really will come true sometimes :)
Last Saturday I walked a bit around city center with my camera and took some photos. I really must find some free time and walk around there longer, taking photos of Christmas trees :) I did it in 2008 already, and now it's time to do it once again.
This is at the Bastion Hill's park :)
And these are photos from my mobile phone :)
The city canal. The clock you can see on this photo is at the main railway station of Riga :)
Christmas tree near the Congress House and Christmas decorations on Antonijas street.
And yesterday was the `magic date` - 12.12.12. :) How did you spend it? I even woke up earlier than always to take this photo:
And that's all, I guess, for today :) Now I just must survive until the evening of 18th December and then I'll have winter holidays ^^
How are you doing, my dear readers ? ^^
Have a nice day and enjoy winter!
