What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything?

Today was the most stupid day this year - it's obvious. Yesterday I went to sleep at 8 p.m., cause it was cold, nobody gave me computer or TV and I was really annoyed, and I decided to wake up a bit earlier to study for today's physics test. As a result, I woke up 10 minutes after the time I always wake up on Tuesdays, had no time to eat, banged my hand against something and it started bleeding [nice, yeah], and when I finally got out of my house, I realised that I broke zipper on my jacket. And it's 16 degrees below zero today! Sure, I went back, but couldn't open this zipper to take my jacket off, so I wasted a lot of time for nothing, went to the bus stop and missed the bus. Next one didn't open the door where I was standing, so I was almost late for physics, and for the test I knew simply nothing. I thought that we'll had a lecture first like previous time, but no - we were given tests. I used my book and something that I had put down during some lectures, but it didn't help, so I just did 2 tasks, and one of them isn't correct, cause I took the wrong number :/ I don't remember the day when such a lot of things went wrong, nice.
And I didn't told you about our biology laboratory work last Friday. It was really interesting to see our results - I even didn't realise that in the air there are so many different bacteria & fungi! Here is a pic where I tried to combine together different colonies :)

Lumi, lumi, lumi!

Hey! :)

I'm glad to tell you that it's snowing finally! Yes, it was some snow on 16th October already, but you really can't call such a thing real snow. But now - it's so white and nice... I just love winter & snow, cause it's amazing! :))

Anyway, today we had an excursion in English, everybody chose some object in Riga and had to tell about it. I was speaking about the Gunpowder Tower almost at the end of excursion, and it was so cold that I even couldn't speak normally :D But still it was much more interesting than sitting in class and reading biology, just cold a bit, and now I need only a cup of hot coffee :D

And yesterday we had nice chemistry laboratory work, we were given a mixture of 3 different substances [some colors with long & strange names] and we had to separate them :) Result looked so beautiful, we had tubes with 3 different colors :)

Hope tomorrow I'll remember to take my camera, cause we will see results of our laboratory experiments with bacteria :)

And I also hope that tomorrow will be cold enough, so I'll be able to put on my Kimi Raikkonen WRC beanie, it's been a long time since I bought it in Helsinki, and now it's time to use it finally :)

Hah, nothing changes, it's almost midnight, and I'm sitting here waiting for something. Just watched some football - FC Ajax VS Real Madrid. It was nice to see one of my favourite teams [MR] winning this game, although they got 2 red cards for wasting time :)

And yes - today I finally finished editing my movie. Together I spent on it more than 4 days, if you count all this time, when it was saving [or trying to save]. Well, what can I say - it could be better [more videos, better quality], but I still like it, cause I realised all my ideas :) I just edited it a little bit because of credits at the end, and now it's saving again, so I have to wait - don't want to leave computer on all night again.

On Sunday I went to the cemetery, cause in Latvia we celebrate so-called Candle Night, there are a lot of candles all around, so beautiful :)

But this evening I'm thinking a lot about different things. First of all, why I'm always telling the wrong way when some tourists ask me where something is located? Today a man asked me where is bus No22 stop, and I told him to go sooo far from the place where we were, cause I didn't know that there's a stop really near! Looks like I know nothing about Riga :D

Secondly, why did I chose a nickname Shantyy here? And why do I follow so many blogs in finnish? Ok, I love this country and I know a bit of finnish, but not so much to read texts in it - simply a few words! :D Maybe it's because last few days I'm listening only to finnish music, I found a great song called `Rakkaus on Lumivalkoinen` and I want to learn lyrics of `Ievan Polkka` too. Looks unreal, cause there are so many words in this song, but I'll try when I'll have some free time :))

And now I really want some Lapin Kulta, but I have only a bottle of it, although I brought a lot of beer from Finland this summer :D

You really don't know what it's like to be me!

Maybe I should go to sleep now, cause today [or yesterday already] my Mom woke me up a bit early, but I'm sitting here, waiting when my friend will send me our physics homework. Great Friday night, I have nothing to say.

By the way, all this week seems to be strange. On the one hand it's great, cause a lot of good things happened, but on the other hand, it really could be better. Maybe let's start with good news.

First of all, I'm glad to tell you that I passed my biology test, cause in molecular genetics part I've got 8 :) And I think that other part will be better, so there's a chance of getting 9 :) I really hope so, although after this test I even though that I'll have to write it again! The other thing is that this week we have 4 holidays, cause Latvia has it's 92nd birthday! So I can finally relax a bit, and next week we even have no tests, only home reading in English :)

But there are some not so good news, too, and yesterday I even became so angry that I really wanted to throw my computer out of the window! Everything started when I decided to make a movie about this season in F1 and was trying to put all videos together in Windows Movie Maker. It broke down at least 10 times, as the result, I sat in front of this computer till 1 a.m. and today I realised, that this project file which I saved isn't working. So I started to make my film in Nero Vision, spent at least 8 hours on it, then tried to save it. Hah, it was fun, when there appeared a message that I have not enough free disk space, and I realised that half of this movie in bad quality has taken almost 13Gb! So, now I'm trying to save it on my HDD, there is 300Gb free, hope it'll be enough! And it'll finish after 18 hours. Nice.

And today I really don't know what's happening to me, cause when I try to work on my computer, it's simply not working. It's turning off, some error messages are appearing and so on [only Internet is working properly]. And this problem appears on both my computers, although when my Dad is doing something, everything works. This really sucks!

And finally it seems that this week I have eaten a lot of sweets, cause now I have a lot of red spots all over my skin :/ Seems like I'm allergic to something, and if I can't eat sweets now, I definitely won't survive, cause I simply need them to keep myself going :/

I tried so hard and got so far, but in the end it doesn't even matter...

So, it's finally a day when I have some free time and I'll write something here. As I already told yesterday, Seb became World Champion, and I still can't believe he did that! It seemed so unreal even to me, although in 2007 when Raikkonen became Champion I said - it would be like that, no matter what, and I don't care that he has 17 points less than Hamilton with only two races to go. This year even I didn't believe. And Seb proved that he can everything. OK, I'll stop talking about F1, it's winter coming and no races till March 13!

Previous week was really great! First of all, on Monday I went to my friend from university & it was fun to stay at her's flat, we made something to eat [braised carrots with cream, potaoes and deer's meat, who could think I will eat something like that? :D ], watched `Strange wilderness`, did a bit chemistry and so on... Tuesday was really hard day after all night without sleep, but still - it was fun! :)

And on Friday we had initiations or newman's ball, other students made some stunts for us so we could become real biologists not futility! We ate onions and dog's food, I kissed with real pig's head, drank vodka and beer in one drinking game [my favourite, since I'm biologist :D ] and finally dressed out completely naked, cause I just had to do this because of losing in card game! :D Glad I have long hair, lol! :D

This is picture with my `passport` and new name - Pizza in a Bowl, and a pic where they tried to put on me dog-collar, cause we had to be bitches! :D I know I look dirty/strange/whatever, but it's still funny! :D

And on Saturday we had another interesting biology [microbiology] experiments in laboratory, we were collecting bacteria from air, Escherichia coli from doors and from city canal water, and on 26th November we'll see what we have collected :) Hope I'll remember to take my camera, so that I'll have possibility to put pics here :)

And today I'm a bit tired after my test in genetics, at least on Wednesday we'll have lectures [and a test] only till 12:00, and Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday will be free! Can't wait!

Today I'm so happy it almost hurts! :) I know it's been a long time since I last wrote something here, but I have a big test tomorrow, so I'll try to describe everything that happened since last week tomorrow or a bit later.

But there's a thing that I can't afford not to describe here - today Sebastian Vettel became the youngest ever Formula 1 World Champion! There were so much chances for Alonso to win today, but both Renault cars especially Vitaly Petrov helped Seb so much by holding Alonso and Hamilton! And Seb won, Alonso finished only 7th and Webber 8th!

Today was a very busy day for me, feeling terrible now, cause I had to finish all my laboratory works :/ And our teacher was telling me for about 10 minutes that I have no idea how to write these genetic tasks she gave us, not a good feeling to stand there and listen to all this stuff [however, she's always been really positive so I can't say anything bad about her :)].

So, about my laboratory experiments :) One of them was about plant vegetative reproduction, we took potato, cut a small piece of it, put it into a test tube with some necessary nutrients and left for a month to grow there. Today was fun to see our results :)

My potato was really long, I'm glad it grew, cause with my attitude to plants  there was more chance that it'll die :D

And 2 weeks ago we had another experiment with fruit flies a.k.a Drosophila melanogaster, we put together yellow male and grey female [I called mine Kelly & Raquelle], and today we had to count their offspring :)

It's Kelly and Raquelle...

...And their offspring :) They're not dead, just asleep :)

And tomorrow are holidays finally :) But next week will be so hard, we'll have to study 6 days and we'll have party on Friday, so on Saturday it would be easier to die than sit for 8 hours at laboratory :D Hope I'll survive and everything will be OK, cause later we'll have a final test in genetics, gonna be hard :/

Hah, let's stop talking about university :D

Just made this blog :)

To be honest, it's my 5th blog where I'll write something about my life, but previuos ones are in Latvian and Russian [and 3 of them are personal, just for me] so I decided that it'd be fun to try blogging in English too :)

So, about me :) I'm studying biology at Latvian University, cause I just love this subject & biologists are sooo nice, it's always interesting with them :) But my dream is to study and live in Finland, love this country and hope some day this dream will come true :))
And I'm a big fan of formula 1 and other motorsports [especially WRC], so I'm trying to attend some races & auto shows in my country, once I was at F1 Hungarian GP [in 2009] and at Helsinki Motorsport Weekend [2010] too :)
